Shakespeare’s Globe has announced that they will be offering four year-long apprenticeship schemes targeting disadvantaged young people. The project is part of a bigger initiative to make the theatre more open and accessible. The apprenticeships are open to young people aged 16 to 19 who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs) as well as offenders. Apprentices will working in one of the four departments of the theatre and they will be supported by a mentor along with a pathways and outreach coordinator to secure employment once the scheme is over.

The scheme aims to be “a skills catalyst that will help redress the lack of diversity within the cultural sector”.

Applications for the apprenticeships will close on June 29.
