TEDxEuston aims to reflect ideas and inspired thinking of a new generation of African thinkers and leaders, presenting to an audience committed to engaging and re-engaging in an active and meaningful manner with the continent.

Social Media Job Description

The ideal person should actively participate and take an interest in Africa-related content via social media platforms; blog-sites, twitter, facebook etc… In addition, the individual should be well-connected with the broader social media sphere. It is imperative that the volunteer be enthusiastic, organized and able to commit time to developing and implementing TEDxEuston social media programs.

Our Core Objectives:

  1. Create a buzz for TEDxEuston 2012 event.
  2.  Raise TEDxEuston social currency with existing/new followers
  3.  Build conversations and actions (ticket sales) model
  4.  Create, enhance and continuously grow the diversity of TEDxEuston followers/fans
  5.  Align TEDxEuston online (social) media with offline media plan

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Compile and monitor a list of previous and current TEDxEuston speakers including all their social media handles – Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.
  • Provide a list of Africa influential bloggers to TEDxEuston team with suggestions for engagement
  • Use various forms of social media – facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, blogs, comments to increase visibility, membership and traffic across all our TEDxEuston brand activity
  • Implement and manage social media programs; work with the Social media team and Head of our Social Media Volunteers
  • Keep abreast with any new social media tools/platforms that TEDxEuston ought to consider. Educate the team on such findings
  • Strategize with the Team Head and educate the management team and others across the broader TEDxEuston team on incorporating relevant social media techniques into the team culture and activities
  • Measure the impact of social media on the overall marketing efforts to the TEDxEuston Social Media Team Head, as required
  • Sponsors:  determine sponsors´ social media activity and ensure this is incorporated in TEDxEuston social media activities
  • Schedule and plan: follow the plan for topics and schedule as assigned and provided by the Head of the Social Media Volunteers team

  • Business development
  • Technology
  • Financial and quantitative analysis
